Ever have a killer idea or dream, something you are totally juiced about and then it goes away? You no longer have that passion for it. We all do and sometimes it’s for good reason, maybe it wasn’t such a great idea. Or, maybe it was an idea that went unnourished because the belief in it faded. Once we decide it can’t be done that juice fades quickly. Next time you get this feeling stop and take inventory of what’s running through your mind. Literally, stop for a minute and notice how you are processing this. Is there a little voice that is telling you that you can’t do it, it’s too big of a project, it would take to long, you don’t have the expertise, or it’s requires to much money. Maybe there is some legitimacy to these thoughts but it is important to be aware that there may be a more empowering view.
Instead of thinking of all the reasons why it can’t be done, question yourself HOW could this be done? Am I not starting this goal, task, or idea because of how I perceive it. Once you change your perspective new possibilities come into play. Try it, I’m telling you it works. Have you ever been looking for a solution to a problem forever and then one day the answer comes to you? Leading up to that you were certain there was no way to make it work. And all of a sudden you now have a solution that you can act on to make it happen. What changed? The circumstance, maybe but more often then not it was your mindset, your perspective on what is possible. So, why wait? Take the empowering view NOW that there is a solution to any problem, obstacle or goal you are after. Question your limits, or I should say perceived limits.

Until 1954 when Roger Bannister broke the 4-minute mile it was “not possible.” Really? Was it not possible or was it that people didn’t believe it wasn’t possible? Since it “became possible” many runners have run the mile in less than 4 minutes and broke the record many times over. So, what is your 4-minute mile that seems to be impossible? Something that if you changed your view on and took action would change your life for the better. What have you been telling yourself is not possible that is really important to you? What is the worst that can happen, really ask yourself this. Question your limits! Your potential is only limited by what you think you are capable of. Believe you can do it and you are more than halfway there. Take an empowering stance. Take a look at those who have done the same thing, or similar with all odds against them. Be inspired by those people. If they can, you can. Reconsider the situation with this empowered state and watch how the floodgate of possibilities open up.
If your why is strong enough you will figure out the how.
If you are going to question anything, question your limits. If there is anything worth fighting for, fight for your dreams. And make sure you have tons of compelling reasons why the goal is important to you. This will give you the firepower you need when any limiting thoughts surface. Think about your family, your friends, or whatever really inspires you to be your best. Make sure it is compelling.
So next time a great ideas hits you, take a conscious effort to stop yourself. Ask are there any thoughts that are limiting me that can be changed to an empowering optimistic view. Change your thoughts and watch how things change in your life.
I would love to hear from you. So, let me know in the comments, what has been holding you back from your dreams that you are now committed to doing? Announce it publicly and have someone hold you accountable.
